Reverse but no forward gears?

I sold Vanbox a complete 06 LBZ and trans out of a dually. The harnesses, computers, accessories, pretty much everything but the dash and transfer case. He just sent me a text this morning and it runs great but only goes in reverse. He is in Australia and I am in Texas so its knida hard to help out much. He is a member here so I will direct him to this thread so maybe we can help. He has tried a different TCM and EFILive shows no codes. Any ideas? The truck slid into a ditch on its side, no roll over or anything, they pulled it out and drove it home. Insurance totalled it which is how we got the parts.

Needs to check all his connections. Make sure no pins are bent or pussed back not making connections. This where I would start

Pan drop would be in order to make sure filter didn't fall out. Check speed sensor connections.

Thanks for posting this up for me Larry. I have directed my engine installer to this thread too and he may pipe up and ad some more info. Im still trying to get my head around the duramax!

I hope we can get it sorted soon. Ill keep an eye on here and post the result as we find the problem.

Oh it has a transgo junior shift kit in it since i got it from Larry. So pan has been off.

Mike, heath has another usernme on here. He is doing the work to my truck.

Its a custom install on a nissan patrol so shouldn't be hung up. I have a chevy instrument cluster which shows it is selecting all the gears.

Probably not. Reverse is C3 & C5, 1st is C1 & C5, 3rd is C1 & C3, so if you have Reverse and where able to get it into 3rd, then all the clutches used for 1st are working, so it's probably something else preventing it from going into 1st.

Wow this thing got some heat into it.

I had to lever most of the steels off the input shaft.

Is it possible this happened when the truck it came out of laid down on its side? They told me the guy got it pulled out of the ditch and drove it back to his house. I guess they were wrong
