Ok so it's been like pulling teeth getting ahold of my tuner Bobo. He finally got back with me after 2 months about my tunes for my built motor. Now the truck and motor is goin to be 2hrs away from me. So I wanted the tunes already on there. But he said he wouldn't do that and it was ok to drive it 2hrs back home on the old tunes. That didn't make sense to me since now it's getting 100 overs dual pumps and a s483 over a Danville 68mm. So I asked if it would be laggy running the old tuning and he got smart with me and said how was he suppose to know he didn't build the motor. So I told him obviously the old tunes are gonna try to fuel the bigger turbo setup. Then he said I'd have to data log it with the old setup. Then he'd build tunes off that and I couldn't drive it home without new tunes mind you my truck is going to be 2hrs away. Then he said by the way he charges $500 for built tunes!! That seemed a bit pricey to me since he's already done my other tuning.....

There's always two sides to a story so I'm not flaming as I've never dealt with bob but I've seen mixed reviews on him and I'm sure there's a reason his names not out there like it used to be.

Shouldn't charge extra for a built motor, if he knows what he's doing it's not a big deal building a base tune, the fine tuning can be a PITA, I could see him wanting a little extra but not 500 bucks. I'd tell him **** it and move on. He's not the only tuner out there.

I'd go with tony or mark at Danville, I run korys tunes and they're drivability is nice but every tuner, just like everything else in life has their pros and cons.

Also, you could try to drive it on your smallest tune and watch egt's.

I drove mine two hours to get retuned for 20 overs and it ran hotter than I thought but I'm pretty sure they weren't 20 overs, seemed a hair bit bigger to me as that truck kept the gauge buried real easy even after tuning and retuning but I never cared.

Yeah i could try. I'd hate for something to happen though after spending all this money lol

How hot is your smallest tune?

Additional cash for what you have named off for a retune isn't uncommon. 500 extra can or can not be worth it depending on what he does for you. Remember, you just dropped a shit ton of cash in an engine for it to perform. Having a tune that makes it all shine should not be underlooked nor a tuner that wants to give you his best, don't go cheap here (don't think you are, just want to make sure). It's hard to judge if bobo will give you a justifiable 500 dollars worth based solely on your post.

If he plans to dyno and track tune with you remotely or there in the truck and really get things where you are happy, it's worth it. It's the little things that set tuners apart and really make you fall in love with all the work you did. If you and him can't come to an agreement that makes the 500 worth while, I'd start doing research on tuners who will get you where you want to be. There are a few vendors here I know that would be happy to do that for you.

First tune is optimized stock so maybe 400hp egt's never get over 1100 seems like

Optimized stock wouldn't be that hot.

Either way, if cruise egts are low on that prior, you should be fine to cruise back on that. If you didn't have twins before, it will feel laggy till the maf is rescaled. May throw a code for it as well. It's not the end all to drive on it if it was good tunes. My break in tune years ago was an optimized stock lb7 tune with just changes to the maf. Had 45% overs, stock over 475, and built engine with dual fuelers.

I doubt you'd have an issue driving it home. You're going from a stock motor to built motor right? If so it won't be hot enough to do damage.

Stock size injectors before? If so don't run the hot tune because you will have a ton of fuel.

Or was it built before and you just changed some stuff around?

It'll was a s475 over stock with stock pump and injectors. At cruise itd stay around 300-400. My tunes weren't that wild

Yes stock motor to built motor. It was stock fuel before with a s475 twin setup
