Anyone have a Retrax bed cover?

I need to know if you can still tie a motorcycle in the back and tie it down with one installed?

Someone I know smirked at me when I asked him  and told me we already have one truck with cover on the back :p

You may want to PM Twister773 - He has a Truxedo or something which is the same right? Similar anyway - roll up bed cover? He has dirtbikes with him all the time so I would say yes, not certain though.

I had one. I crushed the box and ruined the rollers when I put my sport bike in the back. and I had to put it at an angle to close the tailgate with the short bed. its fairly water proof. I only had leaks at the back by the tailgate and if the drain tubes in teh box fell off it would leak int eh bed instead of out of the bed. not a bad cover, but didtn work for my application. I now have a trifold cover that I can take off completely and store to the side when hauling the bike. I think the box it rolls into takes up 8 to 12 inches of length so the 6.5 bed becomes about 5.5'

Great Thanks

I like that idea better of being able to take it all the off if I want. I found one that I was going to buy tonight. But, of course I can never find a tape measure when I want one  Will have to do at the shop tomorrow :D

I had one for a few weeks, and I am not sure if I got one from a bad batch or what, but the roll up action was horrible, and it leaked. I switched to a BakFlip tonneau cover and was very happy. Doubles as a headache rack when folded all the way up. I will more than likely be buying one for my LMM in the Spring.

ow that there sounds like a good idea. flips up to a back rack. I didnt know of that. I might be interested in that. i'l look it up. I am however very happy with my tri fold. its a hard cover with the vinyl wrap over it so it looks like a soft top, but it doesnt collect rain water and snow cause its hard underneath

extangs arent to bad from what I know. and you can get replacement parts for them if the clips break or if a rail gets bent. or if the cover itself tears. but some places sell them in pieces. so the cover itself is one price and the rail kits is additional if I remember correctly. I could be wrong though.just something to look into

Does this backflip rest against the back window or the cab?? That's what it looks like in those pics.

The Gen 1 version I had did, the new Gen 2 has adjustable locking arms while up instead of gas struts. This should allow you to lock it before it contacts the rear window. On my F-150 it was not an issue since it had a huge seal around the slider it hit. Never came in contact with paint or the window. After reading all the changes they made with the Gen 2, I want another one. I am really torn between a fiberglass cap, or the Bakflip.

Sorry guys, I could not find any pictures of my Ford with the Gen 1 Bakflip, I have pictures of it with the Extang Full Tilt though that I had before the Retrax and Bakflip. I had posted pictures on f150online.com of it last year, but Sony's Imagestation shut down and I lost those pics. The link I posted of the Ford shows the latest Gen 2 which give you an idea of form and function.
