How is the best way to go about removing the plastic fitting that sits right in front of the fire wall that the heater core coolant hose goes into? I bought a new unit but trying to figure out how to remove it! Current plastic fitting is leaking like a bitch. Thanks guys!

The two plastic quick connect fittings at the end of the hoses? It takes a special quick disconnect removal tool to remove them from the heater core pipes. You can make your own using a cheap plastic 3/4" quick disconnect tool found at most auto parts stores. Take the tool and file it down a bit until it fits into the back of the fitting. Once you have it disconnected from the heater core pipes you can remove the rubber hoses from them and replace the plastic piece. Then the new ones will just snap back onto the heater core pipes.

Ok, sounds good, dumb question but should I drain all the coolant out to do this? Probably right? Thanks a lot guys.

I had one of those stupid things start leaking right after I did my motor. It was only like the second or third time I got on it hard. Smelled antifreeze bad, pulled over and saw a huge puddle growing. I thought for sure I had done something wrong and blew the damn head gaskets already haha

Replaced the fitting the other day. Literally only took 5 minutes. Sanded down my quick disconnect 3/4" tool like recommended above. Slid right in a popped her off. Thanks guys!
