You could try the Gm fuel injector cleaner.

I tend to think if it was a stuck injector it would hammer more then just under load.

well that's probably not whats up with mine then. Mine doesn't smoke at all, even under WOT. Just ticks real bad, and the tick gets louder with more throttle. Suppose it could very well be an exhaust leak, but I don't smell exhaust from under the hood at all.

Crap i didnt see page 2. Thanks guys. No its not exhaust leak i checked. This engine has zero leaks. Its 51 here this morning and when the truck cools off overnight it doesnt do it until the engine warms up. Im 99% sure its not mechanical valve train noise either. The damn engine idles and runs like new yall. I need more options. I cant just run out and buy efi live or a tech 2. Nobody around here has that either. I want to isloate each injector on the drivers side(thats the noisy bank) i want real work exPerience on what coild happen to these injectors once i cap off the fuel to them and stomp it down the road. It can be done with efi live why not with a 10 buck fuel fitting cap? Ive got a warranty on these shitty injectors and i intend to use it.

I had the same issue, mine was a bad cup/Oring that rolled on an injector, did you have any cups stick to the injector really bad when you pulled the old ones? any thing funny when you put the new ones in?

engine tick

So how would one remedy a stuck injector? Replace it? Or just try an overly concentrated dose of stanadyne or similar? The lb7 I just picked up has this same symptoms. A loud tick that gets louder with more throttle and is nearly silent at idle but I can faintly hear it with the hold open and my head close. Sounds similar to an exhaust leak.

not to hijack thread but had same issue in customers truck valves were way out of spec about .020 when there suppose to be .012 to .010 fixed the problem and difference in performance amazing.

So I've been posting about my issues and thanks for the help. I pulled my engine and replaced the head gaskets and injectors. This is what i know. I used crappy oreilys reman injectors. 1st mistake. I used victor "c" gaskets and new gaskets and seals on everything i removed. The engine idles better than ive ever heard it. No smoke of any kind. Blowby is way down. I put valve seals on amd took .005 off heads. My problem is knocking sound under load. Not at idle or when at hwy speed. I dont think its a rod. I did hydrolock it once though but i didnt have a way to measure protrusion. It sounds sorta like an exhaust leak but its not. Thats why i think its one bad injector. Any ideas on how to isolate it by disconecting one injector at a time maybe?

could be same for you did you check clearances on reinstall

Wow thanks for the amazing reply with the info about what it would do to the injectors if i cap one of them off. No i havent run it without the belt yet, again what is the reasoning for removing the belt? Im just curious. Also yes i had one stuck in the cup. At least 2 had o-rings that were damaged. I cleaned the cups and the heads for hours. They all looked new when i resealed with new o-rings and lock tite. I let them sit for 24hrs before i cranked it. Two injectors had the new o-rings already on them and seemed harder to push in but didnt alarm me.

It sounds more like a injector not sealing against the copper washer. I would pull the valve covers ans look for a o ring pushed out. That will be a sign that its leaking there

Is there not a GM dealer in your area? For what you will spend screwing around trying yo cap off fuel from individual injectors you could go there and individually shut them off much faster. It takes little to no time.

I didn't even know oreilly sold injectors. Know anything about them? Like who does their remans? I hope you didn't pay the $280 they have them listed for. You can buy Bosch remans way cheaper from a number of places.

I say go to the dealer, run a balance rate test, shut off individual injectors and go from there. Compression test could show you bad rod or leaking cup.

If it was a bent rod or stuck injector though it would always be making noise. Usually.

these are balance rates from a genesis scan tool. I don't really know what I'm looking at so any information will be appreciated. also yes orielys sells them reman by borg warner. the Only reason I put them in is because my boss charged them there. i suggested against it. now we are both paying the price.

also the nearest dealer that MIGHT be worth a shit is 75 miles and i just can't afford to go there. get paid by my boss to do the work. it doesn't matter to me how long it takes to cap off 1 injector at a time. i don't have time to leave my truck for days or even weeks with the idiots around here. i asked could i make an appointment to have my truck scanned and the lady was so freaking rude about it. No she said, i can make an appointment and bring it in and leave it. what the **** is the point in an appointment for next week. not even an option.

Injector rates seem fine to me. It is pretty time consuming, but you might take the valve covers back off and check everything over, make sure everythings tight andcheck your injector cups.

I checked yesterday fluids. No oil in water or vice versa no fuel in oil. No contaminated fluids anywhere. Also the thing is perfectly drivable. I just hate the sound. So yall are saying those balance rates are good?

Hey guys i made a fuel rail block off fitting out of an old injector line. I started with number one and it immediately quit making noise when i road tested it. Im putting it back together now with another injector and hope thats it. If this injector is good and no rod bearing wrist pin issues it should be quiet. The block off trick worked like a charm. The miss from one dead cylinder is negligible.
