So, trying to finish tearing down my motor so I can get going on this dang build.

Cant get the CP3 off... what am I missing? I removed the 2 bolts circled, along with the corresponding ones on the other side for a total of 4.... are there more?

It seems I can seperate it a bit, but dont want to force anything and not sure what else is needed. Does the front cover have to be off for it to be removed?

yeah you're supposed to release the tension on the two piece cam gear, makes it easier.

But IMO you dont "have" to, just put a screwdriver between the block and CP3 casting, and give it a couple smart taps with a hammer. You arent gonna damage it...

With the oil filler tube out you can use a screwdriver to pop it loose. It is binding on the cam gear so it will not release without a little help.

just wiggling it a bit to get some screwdrivers in between the casting and block. and then you should be able to walk the cp3 out.

remember the gear teeth are at an angle so its pulling the pump back into the motor (toward water pump). Just pry with 2 screwdrivers back and fourth a little and it should go. try rotating it a bit too.

you talking about the 3 bolts that have the long hex spacers on them?

they hold the cp3 to the mounting plate, and the mounting plate bolts onto the block using the 4 bolts on the front.

if you wiggle the cp3 enough you can get a screwdriver wedged in that spot i marked with a yellow arrow. and you should be able to do it with the other side. and use 2 screwdrivers to slowly "walk" the cp3 out.
