Removed Moldings

So I just installed a set of Bushwhacker extend a fender flares on my 02 truck. The factory plastic flares were pretty sun faded and required constant shining. Thought I'd try the bushwackers out.

While I was at it, I decided to pull the factory side moldings off. Used a 3m eraser wheel to get all the adhesive off. Truck looks way better, but does anyone have tips on paint care? Since the truck is black and over ten years old, with the moldings removed you can still see where they used to be in the paint. Will a cut a buff help this? A specific wax? Any tips?

Also ordered up some 2" wheel spacers to put on the back to get the tires out flush with the new wider flares, they should be here by the weekend.

More than likely thats what he meant. Me personally i used a polishing compoound No.7, let that set for a bit then wiped off and then preceeded to go over the area again with a regular wax. It did the trick just fine for me

if you can post a couple pics we should be able to help you out more. Need to see the exact differences you mention to tell you the best way to fix.

Plus would love to see the new look. Sure it's tons better!

a good wet sand of the whole truck and professional buff will take care of 90% of the issue. it will take out alot of scratches you have too. its just not cheap for a good job

I was thinking of doing the same - removing the molding. Your truck looks better for sure with the molding removed. As for the buffing of your truck you can use a d/a buffer with the right pad and polish and get your truck looking amazing. I did mine and the results were awesome. I did a lot of research on detailed image website and ordered the supplies from there as well. Check it out. Just be prepared to put in the time. I split it up over a weeks time and just left the truck in the garage and didn't drive it. I think going this route you can blend it by cutting and then the shine will take care of the rest make it a lot less noticeable. I'll try to post some before/after pics of mine.

2" Wheel Spacers arrived a day early, just bolted them on. Can't believe how much it changed the look. WAY better, especially with the new wider flares.

Not the best pics for comparison, but I'll get the truck washed up and post a better pic soon

Anybody

Besides the 3M eraser wheel whats a good safe to use (on the paint/clear coat) product to remove the leftover adhesive of stickers/decal/emblems?

I used some aggressive adhesive remover from Home Depot. Came in a little yellow and black metal tin can an smelt like rubbing alcohol. It Was a little questionable to try it on my paint but it said "safe on all paints" so I tested it in my door jams and it worked great so I did it on my exterior and it worked like a charm. Literally melted the stuff right away.

Thanks. I'll look into that. I was think of using Goo Gone, some bug & tar remover, or Turtle Wax label/sticker remover. Only cause I can get them locally. But iv read mixed reviews on Turtle Wax label/sticker remover. So I'll report back on my findings.
