Removed chrome trim on doors... what a mess!

I decided to remove the trim on my doors and 3 of the 4 doors the paint came off underneath. I had a buddy of mine that does paint and body work help me take the trim off. When we did it the adhesive pulled the paint off and it stuck to the trim. On the passenger door there was rust starting to form underneath the trim. So my buddy painted the doors for me, I just had to buy the paint.

Wow, that sucks it pulled the paint. The rust issue was one reason I took mine off, I didn't want to give it a chance to start.

Im actually surprised that the paint came off with it...ive never heard of that happening before when people went to remove their door moldings...

Make that 3 of us, I just did my 04 and no problem Aldo I did my 02 in like 08-09 and no problem with that either.

I would venture to guess it wasnt the factory paint but it looks 100% better :thumb: im gonna have to get your buddy to do a little touch up on mine too pretty soon lol

ON EDIT: It looks like the passenger door was originally white have you ever done a carfax on your truck?

same thing happen to me when i pulled my badges off and i know it was factory paint bought the truck brand new in 06
but your truck looks much better

I'm not sure if it was factory or not. I've had the truck for 7 months and am still trying to find out the history of it. The previous owner didn't know much.

I haven't ever done a carfax on it. The truck was originally red, victory red to be exact. I got the color off of the build sheet in the glove box.

Thanks for all of the good comments! I'm planning on getting a grill to paint the same color as my truck to replace the chrome one. I also want to take the chrome steps off and put black ones on. Anyone with a crew cab wanna trade?

I agree but my girlfriend is barely 5 foot tall and its already hard for her to get in my truck with the steps. I've gotta have something. I really would like some amp research steps but those things are high dollar.
