Reinstalling hood

we took mine off when we did the injectors because the hood was covering up the light and we couldnt see with out useing a shop light it went right back on i didnt slam it the first time just to make sure that it was going to line up but all was good

I took mine off the first time I pulled the engine because I didn't know about the service position on the hinges. I didn't scribe anything. I just lined up the washers with the obvious places they were before. I got it lined back up with no problems. The scribe method sounds like a sure fire way of getting it back to the same spot. Only thing that would worry me about it is if you live in the rust belt you will open up a spot for rust to form.

Hence the tape I mentioned earlier...outline the hinges with it.

I can't stand rust and scraping the paint is inviting rust here imo...way too much calcium in the winter.

You guys are lucky to live without rust.

I took mine off, took about 20 minutes with 2 guys to get it back on and aligned again.
