Where do you come up with that number every time i see a red/off road fuel thread or here someone talk about the fine it carries it is always that number funny thing is my cousin was caught two times yes twice in a three year span and it was only 2000 each time yes 2000 will buy alot of on road fuel and it's alot of money to me but no where near 10K each time
Every fine is different, it is not a set fee. In a way its kind of what they want to charge you, its not a traffic violation its tax fraud and they are not nice people to deal with. They do an audit of your business and try to determine how much you owe in fuel tax for the past 5+ years.
They do not always do this though, they want the big fish, I'm guessing if your cousin got a small fine he wasn't a big target.
Alaska is still exempt from low sulfur diesel for off-road use. Many of the private gas stations have 500ppm sulfur #1 heating oil at the pump. It is priced 75 cents/gallon less than highway diesel.
#1 is not under the same regs for having to be ULSD, you can run it all you want but I doubt you'll enjoy the performance.
Question: does the dye stain the inside of your tank too?
Depends, but on your truck no.
The Ministry of Finance is the ones who dip your tanks and the last one that dipped mine said as long as your an individual and not a corporation you'll generally only get a small fine. If your a Corp they will send out an auditor to go back 7 years and see if your fuel purchases pencil out. As said, all the fuel is the same now, our new tractors and combine all have Dpf's.
That they will, they are not happy people when you do not pay them. Never been in the situation but know many who have.
A few years back when I was helping setup our local fair we were waiting for the Carnival to arrive, they were running way behind, finally got the story from them, they were held up at a scale with their trucks torn apart. Apparently the boys in blue were convinced the carnies had figured out a way to pump the large amounts off offroad diesel they carry for their gensets, into their on road semi's. They ended up being clean, but it wasted a lot of time and made a mess.
Yes it will stain anything that is a light in color
Not everything, the bottoms of the fuel tanks in our trucks are white, it does not stain those. I work on a lot of farmers trucks and have had to clean some tanks out, even after years of them running off road, there is still no trace of it in the tank.
He does own a legit small company and yes it was in a company truck caught on a job site both times
