Im going to be rebuilding tranny soon (6 spd) and have been trying to decifer through all of the different products, kits, price vs. quality, etc. Im wanting some input on differences between alligator, PPE, Suncoast, Rev Max and anyone else I may have missed, that produces a performance rebuild kit. Price, Holding power, longevity and ease of installation are the obvious buying factors. For instance if I can get an Alligator kit for a couple of hundred less than Suncoast, and its really the same product/s then I would go with Alligator, unless the more wise highly recommend not doing that, with supporting details. I'll need a kit that will hold around 800+HP. The build is just getting underway and Im not sure where it will end but I dont want to build the tranny twice because I didnt go heavy duty enough the first time. (I dont have any trustworthy tranny shops any where near me, so I will be doing the kit myself. Long time wrench turner anyway so I figure I should be able to handle it) I would greatly appreciate any and all info and opinions. Thanks guys! Sorry for length...

Suncoast and dont look back,Got PPE kit and needed the trans in a hurry and it came with no gaskets or rubber,had to buy and additional paper and rubber kit to get it done.You wont ned anything else with the suncoast. JMO
Bring it to someone who does and understands Allison transmissions, you will save yourself a lot of money, headaches and not to mention downtime.
Merchant also has a nice kit put together, and reasonably priced as well

Talk to George at Suncoast. Make sure to get not just the GMax6 parts, but also the gaskets and seals. While you are there, you might also want to replace all of the torrington bearings.
A lot of places will sell the clutches/steels, big paper gaskets, and the TransGo parts, but not include all the other required seals. For my $$, the torringtons are CHEAP once you are in the transmission.
Whoever you get it from, talk to them on the phone prior to buying to make sure they will help you when you start to do the kit installation. Not having any technical assistance when doing the installation is the pits.

Not yet, but yes built motor is in the plans. Prob wont worry about bottom end, pistons or rods until I have too though.. Just got started with all the basics; EFI, S&B, EGR plate, 5" MBRP, PVC re-route and such. Wanting to get an idea on what I will be looking at money wise over the next few months as I awaken the Beast.
