Getting ready to buy a rear locker. The shop I spoke with about install recommended an overhaul kit of some kind. I'm just looking for some info on what kind of kit I should be looking for, standard, master? What should the kit have in it?

Get the full master kit. Since you're replacing the carrier you don't want to pull the bearings off the old one and re-press them onto the new one.

You want the carrier and axel bearings to bed in and wear in with the new carrier's lash setting and whatnot...

I think I paid $340 or something like that for the Yukon Master rebuild kit when I swapped to 4.10's and added the TruTrac. I bought mine through Randy's Ring and Pinion cuz they're local to me, but if I could do it over I would buy it from DHD

Bumping this back up as I'm ready to purchase. There seems to be two choices for master overhaul kits, USA Standard and Yukon...The USA Standard kit uses Koyo bearings and races (costs $340), the Yukon kit uses Timken bearings and races (costs $475). Is there much of a difference between the Koyo and Timken bearings to justify the cost difference?

Use the Timkens. When I was researching the kit for my 9.5", Koyo reviews were hit-or-miss.

I bought the Motive kit with Timken bearings. Bought Timken axle bearings separate.
