I must have missed that, I researched for a while, the dealerships around here had to order them, would take a couple days, so I figured how different could they be??? I'll try a GM one now...don't have nothing to lose now....FML...thanks for the quick response:thumb:

Was the original inner ring removed? Every one I've ever seen leak was because the original ring was left on. If you were the first to replace the factory seal did you remove it? If not it's possible the lip rusted and you don't even know it's there.

I'll second this. That ring can easily be missed.

Rubber hose off the rear axel goes up to frame rail somewhere. I know on my dually it's in the fender well near the fuel fill. Just look for the hose off the rear axle and follow it.

It's almost like a three piece seal. I did the same thing. Changed it out and still leaked bad!. Even took the p-side apart to And realized the ring needed to be removed that wouldn't allow the new seal to seat to the axle.

ive been down this road. my Right side one went out. put a napa one in (yes and i removed the ring that likes to stay on), took a load to colorado and it started leaking again. replaced it again, drove around town fine till i loaded the truck again for the dunes, lost the seal again.

I acutally wound up goin into checker and got a one peice seal. i had the guy keep bringing up different seals and part numbers for the dodge 11.5 and chevy 11.5 till he got the 1 peice seal. i had read on DP a long time ago about someone who did that as they couldnt get the two peices to seal. Put it in and yet to have a leak, this was 40k ago. ill see if i still got the box with the part number when i get home

That would be great! I'm dealing with this same issue on one side (and yes the 3+ pieces of the original were removed). I'm getting sick of seeing smoke coming from the passenger's side rear everytime I tow a huge load.
