rear axle bolts coming loose ok i have a 2008 silverado 2500hd

the bolts that hold the axle shaft to the hub are coming loose after driving some, and then leaks, mechanic states that he had to put lock washers and a better locktight on them which i think is bull

another question is on the rear of this truck did they put any kind of vin number are a number on the rear to identify if it matches the original from factory?

unless he actually cleaning the threads out of any oil that would have gotten into the holes as well as cleaning the threads off the bolts so there is no dirt or oil on them, THEN applying the loctite, its going to do you no good.

ive heard of a couple people having this issue after removing them for the first time. i have not had an issue doing it this way. i also do NOT use RTV on the axle sealing surface like some do. the gasket is cheap enough and/or still good from initially pulling the axle and does a great job at sealing up. RTV can leak if you do let it dry correctly and i hate the extra edging that spits out the sides

The stock bolts are flange lock. If he had to put a lock washer on it he's not getting it tight enough lol

My daily driver had this problem for 3 years... I was running a Burkhardt Spool & Axles...but I had the bolts well over torqued and they continued to come loose over and over again.

I wire wheeled all silicone off bolts and threads and cleaned everything with brake clean and dried it all off. Including running a tap in all the threads and blowing them out with an air nozzle. Then I red loctited the bolts in, been good over a year...but only 5-6k miles.
