This is very odd. I currently have 2 truck that do the exact same thing, One LBZ and one LB7. Exact same problems. I've checked wiring, Jumped all power and grounds directly to the battery, along with Key switch voltage. and still nothing. I've swapped Ecm's and athe FICM on the LB7 with test controllers and still nothing. I'm about to pull my hair out.

Two questions for everyone with this problem and it's a long shot. Have you had your motor out lately, and what it is tuned with, and if tuned with EFIlive, what version?

Just trying to see if there is a common denomintor. (sp?)

Yes, I have had my engine out and swapped, utilizing EFI latest version.

The problem I had after pulling the engine was it wouldn't start, but I had forgotten that I had loosened the FPRV to drain the old diesel out when I had the engine stored. After I tightened it up the truck has been running flawlessly since.

Jneal I am efi live tuned, Version 7.5.5 build 88 I just checked and there are no updates available to me. I DO NOT PULL FUSES WHEN I FLASH, i do however unplug the airdog fwiw. Today I tore the fusebox apart and checked all fuses, cleaned up the chassis ground under the driver door, inspected the motor to body ground, cleaned up my airdog ground, tested batteries both show over 13V, charged batteries for one hour, and a also checked all of the pins in my main harnesses. The truck has stalled randomly 3 times, i drove it to work and back today fine but tomorrow it could stall. I am getting codes U1000, U1024, U1016 with efi live they are soft codes and no SES has been triggered so far.

Can I call you? Pm me your #.

Going to bump this up. I read thru it and I seem to have some of the similar problems. I'll be able to get the truck on a scanner tomorrow night once I get it trailered home.

The truck is cutting in and out. It'll idle for 20 minutes sometimes, other times it won't idle for 3 seconds. Sometimes it'll go down the road fine for a few miles, other times you can't make it 100'. Once it shuts off sometimes it will restart instantly other times you have to wait a while and then it'll go. Throttle position has no effect and won't keep it running. It cuts out very abruptly, not like it's slowly running out of fuel. It's like someone turned the key off, doesn't matter if it's at idle or 3,000rpms.

Fuel is always Road Ranger or FS, been running it for 15,000 mi with zero trouble. Howes additive in the tank. Drained the water separator on my Airdog and it was just diesel in there. Spun the Airdog fuel filter off and drained it, seemed alright but didn't have a means of replacing it tonight. Fuel filter on the motor has maybe 700 miles on it and the WIF sensor did not come on.

Until this morning it sat since saturday after plowing. Idled for probably 20 minutes then made my 25 mile drive to work with no trouble. Pulled into the farm and went into the shed to get a funnel to put in addative, still was running ok. Then put 15 gallons of diesel in (Still had 1/2 a tank or more of fuel when I added the 15 gallons to top it off) with it idling the whole time, drove it 200' and the second I put it in park it just shut off. Got it going again and put it in the heated shed for 5 hours. Pulled it outside, wouldn't idle for more then a minute and I made it a mile before it died. Took about 10 restarts to make it the next 2 miles to my uncles house. Put it in his garage with floor heat for about 3 hours where I worked on it some. Friend brought a trailer and we backed it out to load it up, idled perfect for 20-30 minutes. Wouldn't fit right on the trailer (tip deck) so we decided to see if it would keep running. I made it about 3 miles before it started doing the same thing again. Made it back to my uncles after lots of trouble and that's where it sits.

Duramax stalling

My 04 lb7 was stalling like you turned the key off ,, no engine codes either, changed the ignition switch, still stalled ,, I'd be riding down the highway or just around the corner from my home and it would just stall , I would just put it in neutral while it was still moving and start it back up and it would purr like a kitten,,, changed fuel filter (not it either) ,, so on a whim I took ever ground off and cleaned it with a dremel and wire wheel,, 2 on each side of the engine, 1 on the radiator support, one on the drivers side front frame, one under the drivers door on the frame (abs) and drivers side gas tank , the firewall to the rear engine block , and the ground for the glow plug to the engine on the drivers side, well its fixed ain't stalled in a month....

Well what the heck..been almost 2 months and driving on the highway it stalled 3 times in a an hour drive,,, I might have to clean all the grounds again or one at a time to find out which ground is acting up ,,, just puzzled ,, I love the truck, lots of power and great on gas ,, last truck was a 04 Toyota tundra and this duramax gets better mpg than it ,, but the reliability of the tundra was excellent,,,

If it does turn out to be the grounds, after cleaning them, put them together with some dielectric grease

Well it's been awhile since a stall happened,, what I did was prime the fuel filter housing until it was hard , then while putting pressure on the pump I relieved the bleeder screw and did that 3 times to make sure all air was out and it's never stalled again ...must have had a air bubble in the filter housing...
Hope this helps....love my truck again
