I finally got a chance to run my truck yesterday at the Diesel Nationals in Englishtown NJ. First off its now official, I am hooked on drag racing! So much fun I cant believe it took me this long. It was a great event and we had awesome weather. Lots of trucks the also. Got to meet Kyle and saw a lot of other members trucks but was so busy making changes to my truck didn’t have much time to walk around and chat.

First things first, All these runs were on my 20" rims so im sure that hurt a bit. I lowered my bars almost all the way. I removed my headlight and played with my tire pressure a bit. I REALLY need to work on my tree skills though. I had a hard time concentrating on the tree and regulating my rpm's at the same time. My first run was my best of the day! This run I didn’t air down my tires so 50 psi I think hurt me because I spun all four tire on my launch. I believe I left at about 2000rpm and it was an animal! Here is my slip for that run,

R/T: .474
60ft: 2.048
330: 5.526
1/8: 8.445
mph: 83.83
1000: 10.985
1/4: 13.137
mph: 104.71

Again, this was my best run of the four passes I made. the others were a [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]. All these passes I didn’t launch as hard because I was afraid of breaking something after spinning all four tires my first run out! I don’t know what to make of these numbers guys so I am looking for a little incite for my next trip to the track in two weeks. I REALLY want a 12 second time slip

The best part of the whole thing despite my poor skills was that I had the fastest truck at the event.(so I was told) That was really cool to hear and a bunch of people were coming over to me after each pass seeking out what I have done (Tony I gave away a lot of your cards so look out buddy!) and congratulating me for making a awesome duramax presence in mainly ford and dodge territory. The best was when the announcer said that my truck was faster than stock camaro ss, hemi challengers and mustang gt's and warned everybody not to race me  after making my back to back 13.2 runs :D

So I would really like to hear what everyone thinks and if you have any advice, please don’t hesitate.

as far as the whole tree thing goes just practice a lot...it took me a few visits to atco to get myself to a consistent <.2xx

and now since i switched to 4x4 i have to all over again  it a totally different animal.

i got a bunch of footage yesterday so ill see if i can get some up

Ha Ha beech I saw you run a few times. I didnt think it ran bad at all. You were in the 14's which was better then most trucks there. I was right at the starting line for one of your passes and I have a good video of your burn out. I would post it but I have no idea how. Ben you should have come. There were a lot of trucks I thought, enough to fill three staging lanes at least. Us duramax's were out numbered though by cummins and strokes. No money for winners, just trophies. I guess Beech confirmed it, so my 13.1 was the fastest truck there.

yea man get my vid up....was it the first sweet burnout where the track workers told me to slow down?!?!??! haha

it was slow for my truck...real slow....i usually pull off 14.2-.3 consistently at atco but ever since switching to 4x4 i haven't been able to do well i think my very best was 14.4 and ive been getting 60' times equal to that of 2wd:confused: my trans was shifting like total shit and that's besides the point of having no 5th gear...my best run yesterday was 14.6

Ben no cash for us pickup guys but if you could get your hands on a rig there was 5k to be had....

No vid of my 13.1 run. My GF wasnt paying close enough attention with the camera. This is my second run of 13.2 You have to skip in 40 seconds of the video for my run, again my GF's awesome recording skills

Congrats!! Sounds like you had a blast. Work out that 60' time, and youve got a 12 slip. Nice job.

Those are great times. Even better for your first time on the track with your truck. Once you get your setup figured out and get your 60' times down, you'll be in the 12s for sure.

Beech thats a real cool video! Now the question is guys, how do I get me 60' times down? Launch harder I presume, but if all four tires spin what do I do? Lower my pressure? I ended up running with 35psi in the tires and they didnt spun but I didnt launch as hard. I want to say 1900rpm? What rpm should I be leaving at? Thanks a lot guys. Been a long time coming and I am still pumped from the event!

Chris,

Congrats, the 60/Ft killed you.........knock that down to a 1.70 or so and you have 12.80's all day long.

From the times you were getting consistent ET's, that would make a hell of a bracket truck........:D

13.1-13.2 isn't a bad time if your not stripping the truck, with some practice you'll be hitting the 12's sooner than you think.

I launch by boost psi and rpm, depending on track prep sometimes you need a softer launch, I have seen 4/10's in time lost due to weather and bad prep on the track, sometimes my truck ran 12.6-12.7 all day long and the next time out 12.9-13.1's, it just depends on the day and track.

;)
