Took the 05 to Firebird for the midnight grudge races. I haven’t raced in about 4-5 years... Threw the Caltracs on last weekend, set the shocks and air in the tires and retorqued everything today. Don’t be the tool that looses parts of his ride on the track, due to negligence:D

Anywho set it on tune 3, cause I have never ran this truck and wasn’t sure how it would act. Straight as an arrow 12.8 @108 1.966 60ft:rofl: 1800 rpm launch.

Run 2 tune 4, 1.82 60ft 12.57 @104 blew through the brakes at 1900 rpms. Guess the power steering pump and brake booster may have 406k miles on them:eek: Turned the pulse down out of the hole as it really smoked bad, pulled to much and hurt that run.

Run 3 tune 4 build a 2nd gear start tune thanks to this fine site in the pits. Put the fuel back in from before. 1.74 60ft 12.35 110 launched at 2200, that’s better 2nd gear start works:D

Run 4 tune 5, 2300 rpm 1.73 60ft 12.16 @111.93

Noticed I was getting a ck engine light at the end of the track on most of the runs, p0088 rail high code and a mass air flow code, which explains why it felt like it was laying over a bit on the big end.

Ran once more but slowed just a tick. 2400rpm 1.74 12.24 @111.49

Had a blast, I had really forgotten how much fun it was. I got some good data to work with on the tune, a couple gremlins to work out. I never touched the air in the tires or the caltracs, didn’t figure it was worth it until I could leave with more rpm.

This truck has a bunch more in it. I was pleasantly surprised it ran as well as it did for its first lick as drag not tow truck anymore. Big 82mm charger on my blue truck and my 100 overs in the garage might go on before the Halloween Classic, should have to mess with suspension then :thumb:

What was the cause of that code on the high end that's what my problem is after the 1/8th it falls on it's face and by the 1000ft it's throwing the 0088

Always good to hear from one of the longer-tenured guys about racing. Congrats Al! :thumb:

I suspect that it starts pulling fuel once it pops the p0088. I was to lazy to log it at the track:eek: I’ll verify soon and post what it’s doing, I’ll have go to Mexico as mine pops at about 105:D

Finally got around to pressure cking the air system on this beotch. Wouldn’t you know the 45 boot had a big hole in it:rofl: So hole in intercooler boot, maf and high rail code and still managed a 12.1... I can’t wait for the end of the month;)

The p0088 is from having the rail limit set to low in the fuel pressure settings. I bumped the pressure up and cleaned the maf, so should be good.
