Guys this is a DD 12 second truck. It's even close to practical for me to run a cage or even a 5 point. I wanna keep a 3 point and a retractable one would be nice. I'll start looking online for a setup like that and make take a look at how strong the b pillar Seems to be to support something like that.

Racing is the wrong word. Lightweight sport is what I'm getting at. I've already found some decent looking ones for under 200 a pop. Its just the belt situation that's got me worried. Install should not be too big of a deal if it weren't for these stupid in seat belts

didnt think so. i want to go with a stock style retractable 3 point but im starting to think its more trouble then its worth and just go 4 point

IMO 4-points would be a PITA on the street because they arent retractable or anything....also they arent legal for street use either.

even if you did 4-point belts, where would you anchor the shoulder straps to?

any sort of aftermarket seat as a whole in a GMT-800 is a bad idea IMO. Not only is it a PITA mounting it, but the whole seatbelt thing causes huge issues, and if you make something yourself/non-factory, whos to say it would hold up in a crash? It would suck to be killed because your DIY seat/belt setup failed.... :(

i see what your saying ben but its still something i would like to pursue. im not happy with the weight or the driving position of the factory seats. they sit too high and not far enough back. i cant even see my speedo cause my steering wheel is in the way, very annoying.

what would be wrong with mounting the belts to the floor if it were done right? seeing as after all thats where the stock seat is fasened....

i didnt realize 4 points were not legal, i doubt i would have an issue as i use private inspections anyway but what about 5 points?

the factory seats are mounted in double plated steel w/ braces underneath. I would say the only way it would be safe is if you did the same thing where you wanted to mount the belts.

I still say a nice roll bar that ties into the B pillars with kickers to the floor or frame would be the best option for mounting belts.

maybe, but depending on the seats you go with it might not be possible. But you also have to figure that those mounting points were never designed to be used as belt mounting points. Not that it's not gonna work, but just thinking out loud.
