No problem. I like my music very much! I'm about to take a 12 hour ride to FL for Christmas. The last thing I need is to unplug my speakers. :D

I was thinking this over the other day.

Is there any way to add and properly brace a 5pt harness into the driver seat only without compromising a lot of the rear seat room? On a crew cab...

That's good to know Kat. If that is true, I guess it's a non-issue.

And Trent, the rules look like their pretty open to what you can use for a seat...

"The drivers seat of any car in competition must be constructed, braced, mounted, and upholstered to provide full back and shoulder support. The drivers seat must be supported on the bottom and back by the frame or crossmember........."

"All seats must be upholstered, or as noted under Class or SFI requirements.."

etc etc. etc.

It looks like aluminum racing seats have slots for all 5 straps. Ones like Corbeau have four slots, but nothing for the crotch strap. But the NHRA rules say on an OEM or OEM-type seat the crotch strap can cross in front of the seat and doesn't have to go through. Not sure if a Corbeau type seat is "OEM-type," but I would assume so.

The Corbeaus I had did have a slot for the crotch strap. It's barely noticable, had to run my hand along the seam to find it. So uncormfortable with the crotch strap on. New ones may be different though...

On a racing seat thats pretty easy to do. Keepin the factory seat would make it a bit more difficult but still easily done

That could very well be right. I was just going off the pictures. Didn't really think about it.

I cut the wire that turns on the ding ding ding as per the mod posted over on the DP. My seatbelt light still comes on if I don't have it on but goes out when I plug it in so I ASSume that this means my airbags will still work.

Not sure what would happen though if you just unplugged it though.....

your OEM seat belt is good down to 10.0 right? If you want to go faster than that and put in a full cage is when you need the 5 point seat belt isn't that correct? Trent, talk to Rob, we are pulling out the extra seat in Max'd Out to save the weight, might make you a deal on it if you are interested. I know the belt that is on that seat is out of date however.

Unless I'm reading the rules incorrectly, or missing something that may be an exception.... It says any car required to have a bar or cage, must have a 3" quick release with a 2" crotch strap. Must be clearly labed to meet SFI 16.1 (whatever that is) and dated by the manufacturer.

Guess I better check that, I thought your OEM was good to 10.0. I see what you are reading on page 281, of the 09 NHRA rule book. I know of a few trucks with roll bars that don't have them. I hate the 5 point system but looks like I'll have to install one.

thats what the little book says
roll bar rule is 11.49
if your going to street drive the truck you'll need to swap the factory seats back in or get a factory seat belt setup thats outside of the seat. For some reason racing belts are not DOT approved & you can get a ticket even if your wearing it.

10.5 Driver Restraint Systems
A quick-release, 3-inch shoulder harness meeting SFI Spec 16.1, including crotch strap, is mandatory in all cars in competition required by the rules to have a roll bar or a roll cage. Driver restraint system must be clearly labeled as meeting SFI Spec 16.1 and be dated by manufacturer. System must be updated at two-year intervals from date of manufacture. All seat belt and shoulder harness installations must be mutually compatible, originally designed to be used with each other, and produced by the same manufacturer. Cars using OEM or OEM type seat may route crotch strap in front of seat instead of through seat. Only those units that release all five attachment points in one motion are permitted. When arm restraints are worn with a restraint system that utilizes a "latch lever", a protective cover must be installed to prevent arm restraint from accidentally releasing the latch lever. Protective cover not needed if system uses "duckbill" latch hardware. All harness sections must be mounted to the frame, crossmember, or reinforced mounting, and installed to limit driver's body travel both upward and forward. Seat belts may not be wrapped around lower frame rails. Under no circumstances are bolts inserted through belt webbing permitted for mounting. Check manufacturers instructions.

Can't you install a 5 point and use it with a factory seat the crotch strap doesn't have to go through the seat or so it says.
