I'm new to the tuning world of diesels i have owned them for years just never hopped them up and recently I started to hook up my 05 gmc 2500hd I have put in 30% injectors 3'' down pipe 5'' exhaust efi live tuner and tracion bars oh and put head studs in too. Just curious what kinda hp I'll be pushing and if there is something else I should do im shooting for around 650 to 700 hp. Any help will be appreciated

You have a lift pump and who did your efi live tuning? Also whose injectors did you install? Do you have a stock intake or did you replace that? That kind of hp is border line for a stock rod motor, 600-650 is about it, some bend below that my first truck made about 540 hp to the ground and I bent all the rods.

Do you have a stock transmission still? If so with max effort ,and or stock trans tunes 450-500hp and not for long.

650-700hp will require a lift pump, modified cp3 pump, larger turbo or compounds, built trans and good tuning. After that the motor will be on borrowed time.....

Edit: if you are still stock trans now and it isn't limping I can't see you being much over 400hp

Do you want real 650-700 or just the ability to brag you have that power. There is a lot of generous dynos around to get you those numbers with less mods. But then the track times will make you cry. Dyno numbers are a joke.

All the work is being done by Austin diesel performance out of Marne mi I had a superchip in it and I did experience limp mode a few times not always but if I was around 80-90 mpr and was still in it hard it would go into limp mode but not always. But yes I have a stock trans and am worried about it but I'm taking baby steps the main reason I had done what I did is I needed injectors anyways and I had a bent valve so I had them stud it while they were in there under advisement from a friend. And yes I want real power not he said she said.

Step 1 is to build the trans then add a lift pump and better tuning. That should get you in the neighborhood of 500-550 if everything else is in good shape.

Not even close. If you're lucky, you might be able to make it last for a while in the 400 HP range, but I wouldn't count on it if you drive it very hard at all.

These are the c1 clutches out of a stock 6 speed that I pulled apart. Truck is making 420whp...

What they looked liked.

What they are supposed to look like.

Contact one of our vendors and pick up a Suncoast kit. They'll take care of you. Or do yourself the favor and have it built by a trusted builder.

Who is "Austin Diesel Performance"? I thought I knew most of the Diesel shops in Michigan, but havent ever heard of them.

If they are the ones who told you a stock Alli can hold 600rw and that 650 is ok on a stock bottom end, then RUN from that shop.

Ditto. I live about 35 minutes from there and this is the first I have heard of them too. If thats the info they give then run. I would also suggest to not have Merchant build the trans fwiw.

How did you bend a valve?
