Whats going on. My name is chris, 2 year active service member of the navy new to the forum here, just bought a 2005 Chevy Duramax 2500HD LLY Automatic Trany. I bought bone stock and the only thing ive done so far is cut the muffler off and throw a 6'' tip on it ( still stock size exhaust ). Right now im looking for a plug n play or trying to find out more info on the EFI Live. This is the first diesel ive ever owned so any advice from experienced owners with performance knowledge would be great. Im also looking into putting a single stack in and not sure how big of a stack or how long i need to be just under the top of the cab, just needing ideas to make the loud whistle noise everyone turns to look for. Thanks for the help. Sincerely, MM3 (SW) Powell

Welcome aboard man. What are your intentions for the truck? There is tons of information here for mods from mild to wild. I vote EFI Live as it is the best and there are many great vendors on here who we'll tuning. Don't be afraid to ask questions and use the search bar.

I'd start with the two main things intake and exhaust... Tuning wise go efi live it's the best way to go as far as tuning that won't blow ur truck apart I'd say do an egr delete aswell there's tons of stuff you can do a lot of it is personal preference and depends on what u want out of the truck... Good luck with your build

Hello and welcome. Also, thanks for your service to our country. If you don't do anything else to your truck, fix the infamous LLY mouthpiece problem if it hasn't already been done.

There are many good EFI Live tuners here, do some research and ask them questions. Also, save up some $$$$ for a built trans if you're planning on making power. Some folks have had head gasket issues with LLYs, especially when tuned or chipped. You won't find a lot of stack fans here but it's your truck and you should be able to mod it the way you like. You can remove the resonator and plug the port of if it's turbo noise you're after. Do some clicky for how to. Good luck.

Must have ego live! Cheapest way is an autocal. Get exhaust and delete that egr!!. Get you some kind of gauges. And if you get a intake, bills custom intakes is the only way to go! I have a 5" intake from bill and it sure does whistle and it comes with the hi flow turbo horn also!

Thanks for your service. Intake is only needed if you want the whistle noise. Even then it may not be much louder depending on the intake. But there is very little performance gain on a stock tranny/turbo truck from an intake. I make enough power my stock tranny hates me and get 19mpg still breathing through the stock paper air filter and box. As everyone has said efi is the way to go for customization. But basically any big name programmer can give you a nice mileage bump and push a stock tranny to the edge. You may get tired of daily driving a truck with a stack. The drone can be unbearable at certain rpms.
