Hey everyone, I just recieved a couple of the Allison spin on filters for my 08 LMM that I “thought” were Allison branded. Turns out they are a brand called iFJF. They have a iFJF number as well as the Allison part number of 29539579. A visual inspection shows no issues, but has anyone heard of this brand, or had any issues? Thanks for any insight.

Chinese crap. Go to local Allison dealer if you have one. Last time I bought some they were under $10.00 a piece. Might have gone up though.

Coming from someone who services 10's of engines daily, filters are not something to cheap out on. Get the OEM filters imo.

Thanks for the quick replies. I had a feeling they were inferior knock offs. No, I DO NOT cheap out on taking care of the truck. Filters would be the absolute last thing I cheap out on. Thanks again.

I read on Merchant Auto website last night that supply issues on the red color had forced the use of black paint. I’ll see for sure when I swing in there in a couple of weeks and pick filters up from them.

I was wondering about the black ones too. I had red ones coming from Amazon that lost the shipment. Went to order again and they were black so I was hesitant in getting them. Went to GM dealer for a Delco one.

I thought it was funny.

It’s hard to tell on the net. Too many knockoff stuff around had me worried what’s genuine and what’s not. Amazon Canada had a supplier for a red one with the magnet for 54 bucks. We get taken up in Canada on everything.

I thought I heard that the red was benched cause it’s cheaper to mfg filters in black? Same with companies taking out some of the coloring in their packaging.

I'm betting the color change was cause of the Chinese knock offs. I know Bosch and GM has recently changed packaging of products cause of this exact reason.

Well, I stopped at Merchant Automotive this morning and picked up a couple filters. Low and behold, they are red again. The gentleman that waited on me did confirm that they had been black for awhile, but their last shipment had them in red again.
