So my buddy has a 2007 classic HD with 122,000 miles. He has been running the PPE 225 hp tune sice 25,000 miles. well 3 weeks ago out of no where the trans took a dump on him while cruising...the truck would not go into any gear and got the shift range inhibited message on the DIC.. So he deceided to have it overhauled locally. The tech said the converter and everything else in the trans was toast along with the transfer case. He supposedly installed some sort of upgraded converter but no other aftermarket trans parts. My buddy picked the truck up last week and made it less than 100 miles and the tranny limped. Didnt matter if the truck was tuned or not, it just kept limping. The truck is now back at the shop and the tech is saying the he needs to buy a new radiator, he claims that the radiator (not tranny cooler) is plugged with metal shavings and he cannot get it flushed out. He says that the shavings are being pushed through the radiator and getting into the valvebody causing the limp. This seems very strange to me....i have never heard of anyone buying a new radiator when they rebuilt their trans.....im just wondering if this is a possible cause of his problem, or if the problem is the tranny shop itself- Thanks in advance
