Looking at an 04.5 LLY CCSB as a daily driver for the folks. Anybody know if these trucks had any issues to be aware of? Truck has about 130k non towing and is in great condition.:thumb:

Some have headgasket trouble....

Yea I was planning on putting the LBZ mouthpiece on it. Is there any preventative maintenance to avoid blowing a head gasket?
some have issuies and some dont. its hit or miss, if you blow a gasket put arps in and grade c's and be done with it..
The truck is going to be driven by my parents so Im not worried about them being too hard on it so it shouldn't blow a gasket but yea in case it does X2 on the ARPs. What sort of Wiring Harness issues you talking about?

Injector harness. Also I know some have had issues with the wires rubbing through near the bail connector.
Minor issues if any. They are the best model Duramax in my opinion.

Just look up the ice pick fix. Cut the zip tie that holds the bundle or wires above the ficm and take a piece of rubber hose and put around it where it lays on the metal service. Do the lbz mouth piece and enjoy a great truck

I was thinking it was the ficm area or the bail connector with the rub through... I shouldn't have commented without 100% certainty.
