Mercurys new quad cam engine qcv4 share NO parts with any current gm engine. They have found at and above the 1000 hp mark the bbc can not live long enough with rebuilds at or less than 200 hours. Unexceptable to mercury so they built an all new quad cam big block.

There are street versions on the road right now. They did very good with the lotus designed lt5 they know how to make a cam in head run

Btw i love mercury. We have a stroker outboard on dads bass boat its dressed in factory 150 efi plastics.

Oh I gotcha. Mis interpreted your post.

I still wonder what Merc is doing. Obviously these aren't for hot rodders. They surely have a LS package coming out soon. Those heads(conversion package, knowing Merc) will have a 20k+ price tag I'm sure.

No doubt on the huge price. Here is my uneducated guess... Mercury has released the qcv4 for street applications and i have heard of 2 in resto rods being built. I think, merc is gonna step into the crate engine businuess for marine and highway use...

And i am assumeing you all know of 557 marine? LSA outboards... Wicked

The thing about it is, Mercury Racing is as legit as it gets. These are the real deal, and we will see them offered to the public. You don't have to worry about performance or being proven, look at any Merc racing motor for proof.

I saw them in person at SEMA last week and they are trick. Curved contact Finger followers with mechanical lash adjustment, intricately milled oil feeds.

400cfm and $9,000 ballpark price according to the guy working their booth.

Not bad! I wonder if that includes the timing set and relocating brackets on the front of the motor?

Yeah, we were thinking about a set for our new boat. But decided on Mercs.
