Not to be a party pooper but this although a good idea in principle would not be that great on these allisons. There have been lots of discussions about these before and right now the little red spin on seems to be the best bet even if this metal filter is lifetime whatever JMHO.

Thats a fuel filter, not a trans filter

I wouldn't give a pinch of coon sht for that piece of garbage.

First off-Our fuel filters are 3 micron. 3 people. The smallest you can see is about 40 micron. Red and white blood cells and water are bigger than 3 microns!!

This is to keep contaminents out of the fuel system. Because there are no seals between any of the moving parts in the pumps or injectors in the common rail fuel system, they machine the parts to be within 10's of thousandths of an inch tolerance and use the fuel as a lubricant and also as a sealing component between these parts.

Which brings me to my next point. Who in their right mind knowing this would want to have a fuel bypass for when the filter gets dirty? RETARDED!!:doh:

As a pre-filter in the system, yeah this might be a good product. As a direct replacement for the stock filter, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

Anybody that says that this fuel filter will result in better fuel mileage and that it improves fuel/air efficiency has no clue what they are talking about anyhow!! Same people that probably sell tornado air spinners for turbo diesels!

the only thought i have is cleaning, ultrasonic cleaner, running under warm soapy water or spraying carb/brake cleaner from inside out. seems what ever you use will put trash when you consider something around 3micron would get in there and then to where you are trying to protect. maybe it could be used prior to factory type filter, but nicktane/airdog systems seem to fill that gap.

Why do you guys think the Allison red filter is 27 micron when they could have made it any micron they wanted and it would not have cost them any more to do it? Less micron equals more restriction. What happens when the red filter gets slightly restricted? Alli don't work worth a shit. This filter is critical for proper pressure rise because the fluid that comes out of it is control main pressure and operates the solenoids. Pressure must not be less than 125 psi and not more than 126 psi. Anything less than 125 and the trim solenoids get lazy. Plus the fact that you are spending 300.00 to buy yourself 2 HOUR JOB. I will bet that within a year if your trans doesn't act up you will shelve the ps and go back to the red filter. Spin on change takes less than 5 minutes. That means you crack open a beer and take a sip, slip under truck and pull filter, take another sip of beer and install new filter. Start truck and finish beer knowing you just installed the best filter made.
