im having a bit of trouble gathering info on this.

im at a little over stock trans safe power levels but still on a stock trans. im wondering if i should be worried about pump rub....IIRC its cause by 4x4 racing and launches but im not sure if it will be an issue at my power level

thanks

It's caused from the pos clip that holds the pump. If it breaks then the pump will rub a hole. I think but not positive that gm fixed the issue on the new trucks.

power level is not what does it. it is when ever the clip wants to break and the pump starts rubbing on the case until it rubs a hole!

Pump rub is a role of the dice basically like stated above. The rear housing on the trans breaking is caused by 4X4 launches and driveline vibrations. The transfer case support brace is for that.

Probably a VERY stupid question ( But I'm due) so, once the clip breaks can the rub be heard through a stethascope (SP?) somehow? Possibly to catch it early, and prevent the rub through.

Probably, but you would have to strap yourself under the truck while it's rolling to hear it.

Thanks Mike! I'm sure I could use the GF love swing somehow to do that:D. Or put the rear on Jack Stands.

I want pics and video of this!!!

Does the pump rub issue happen in all years Mike or just the early models?

Beech, if you're gonna have the trans out, you might as well do the pump rub kit. I think the extra 250 is worth the insurance.

indeed, im pretty sure george included that in the quote he gave me a bit ago..

just being paranoid about it happening before then and ending up with a shot case. i do more 4x4 launches then should be allowed:D
