Help: Pulling tips

So this year i did about 8 pulls and my truck always had a ton of power but no traction. I was still able to pull off 2 wins and 2 2nd place but it was hit and miss im not sure why i cant get it to hook up. My tires are 285/75/16 bfg all terrains brand new last year . They are on stock rims and i ran them at 35-40 in the back and 20 in the front i was just guessing on the pressure beacuse ive been told and read a million different things. I have been told a wider rim will really help with the bfgs. For suspension i just lowerd my t bars all the way and clamped the springs but even with them clamped it would still squat like crazy. I would really appriciate some tips as i said my biggest issue was traction and ive herd bfg a/t are a good pulling tire but not working that good for me i have a set of pro comp mud terrains i want to try.

cant block the suspension in the class we pull and all the weight has to be in the box, its crap. we tried to get a work stock class started and the guy who was supposed to present it to the association didnt show up.:mad:

That sucks man. Only way i know to get more traction in your case is to run a little wider tire. You need to do something about the no rear stops rule, I think that is the biggest problem

If the weight limit is 8500 or 8000 make sure you weigh the max allowed. Is your weight at the front of the box? You can have a couple of extra leaf springs added to keep from squatting the rear.

I run a 285 75 16 bfg on a 8x16 wheel with 50 psi in the rear and 25psi in the front and I get good traction but of corse here we have them hard red clay tracks, and im not sure what the tracks is like in canada

yeah you really need block's in the rear,and i dont know what kind of tuning you run,but this is something i do.when im at a lose track,i detune the truck take out maybe 50-75 hp really help's out.

you could also try holding a gear longer,and let the truck come to you.looks like its shifting really fast,witch is a good thing,but on a lose track it can also hurt ya.

but once you get the blocks in the rear,that will set the rear tires to the track and the fronts will follow. . .

try them mud tires you said you had,looks like you have some really sandy tracks.

if you do run them mud tires run higher air press in them,because it will let them spin,not bite as hard!!

Yeap your problem is the tracks my friend the only set of tires I can think of that might help you is good year duratrac's they are the hardest biting tire IMO and around here they have broke some high dollar axle's
