Guys that get bad mileage must have a heavy foot or shitty tuning. I just drove a built motor, 60% Inj, 72/83 compound set up, 1700miles in below zero temps from Louisville to Massachusetts and hand calculated over 19mpg between 70-80mph. I can beat the crap out of my truck, let idle a bunch and still never get worst than 13-14mpg.

Thats a pretty harsh generality from you. There are far too many variables to getting good mileage other than heavy foot and hot tuning.
Winter fuel plays a part, as does extra idling and warm up time due to cold temps. Running in 4x4 sure doesnt help. Hell, engine not getting up to operating temp and fluid viscosity throughout the drivetrain can contribute.

This is true. Parking in the heated garage during the winter I get 1 mpg better than parking outside. I'm sure it because of less warm up and better viscosity in the engine, axles, trans and diff.

I guess I needed a little sarcasm icon, I was joking a little, but I honestly don't understand how people get such bad mileage and others never see that low. I let my truck idle or high idle until it is at least half warm, have winter blend fuel, and use a lot of the 750hp tune I DD on pretty frequently and never see those low of numbers. Hell I drove 2 1/2hrs to a dyno comp, ran 80mph all the way, made half a dozen pulls above 950hp, drove home, and still got 17.5mpg. I kind of feel driving habits are a big part of it, but idk.

Hand calcd 51.5mpg...in the jetta. Best I've ever gotten with my lbz is 20-21mpg. Best the lb7 has ever got is 17mpg, normally around 12-13mpg in town. I've put 26.xx in my shortbox lb7 before too.

I get 10-12 mpg in the winter and 16-18 in the summer. Big tune all the time. I think not having a vvt hurts mileage around town.

Does anyone elses low fuel light kick on right about the time their truck runs out of fuel? My low fuel light is a bit retarded

When my light comes on it has close to 7 gallons left. I can drive around for 2-3 more days until i get nervous. Never ran it out of fuel in the 7 years ive owned it.

I did exaggerate a bit. Last fill up was 18 gallons and some change, had 214 miles on the tank. 214/18=11.88. I ilde 20+ minutes before I leave for work, idle time at store and 20-45 minutes idle before leaving depending on when my relief gets up to the cabin.

What about summer milage? If I beat on my truck for a whole tank I've seen 11 in the summer. 18-19 highway going 75-85 on a 10 hour trip with 265's on at the time.

I've seen as low as 8 thus winter ripping on it and around 10-11 summer beating it. I can get 16-19 in the summer depending on terrain. Lots of hills in my area so its hard to get a good average

I stopped counting. Just look away or go buy a red bull while filling up. :D
