Well I wasn't going to run 420s.. I see the liability reasons for shops not mounting the tires...

However I don't agree with it I think it should be personal liability not the shop.

Just to clarify for future reference.

The issue I explained was not with the 420's specifically (I used that because it was the tire in question in my case) but with any tire with less than a 10 ply sidewall.

I run 10 plys because of lease roads to the rig and my truck is pretty heavy at 8700 pounds. But if I could I'd run a 4-6 ply for the ride and traction.

I've ran 10 ply on everything I've ever owned. This lly 2wd won't see much towing and I wanted to run a wider tire being the 12" wheel so therefore I wanted to try out 305/50..

Not going to start a bunch of drama over it.. It's aggervating to me but I see where the boss is coming from on why I can't have them on my pickup.

So I'll be selling the 12s and 305/50s and hoping I can find something else if I don't sell the lly soon.

10ply tires don't have 10ply sidewalls anyway, usually 3. And if you're lucky, it MIGHT have a 10ply outer, but probably NOT as most tires are just "rated" for a certain ply based on inflation pressures and load capabilities.

10ply tires usually have 6 ply side walls, 2-3 ply sidewalls are usually on passenger tires or load range c tires. It often depends on the load rating too and not so much the load range letter. A load rating of 124 will have different plys than one with 120 rating
