I went to take my spring clamps off from the pull the other day.

I got 2 of them off no problem. Went to do the other 2 and the nuts just stopped about half way and would not come anymore. Ended up having to cut them off.

This has happened to me once before, but I figured I just over tightened them and well lesson learned.

This time, not so much. I know I did not over tighten them. I was very careful as to not too becuase of what happened last time.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

need to use a little grease or anti-seaze on the threads next time , it keeps the threads from galling up and basically welding the nut to the bolt...

its more common on SS to SS parts for the threads to gaull up but i have had it happen to me on all types of metals and sized hardware

+1 on :yup:

I also take a fairly hefty C-clamp to the track with me. Clamp the springs down with the C-clamp, then go to town on the actual spring clamps. That way you aren't compressing the springs the whole way with the spring clamp bolts. Do the same thing in reverse helps get them off in a timely manner as well.

I trashed one mine taking it off:mad:. A large C-clamp is now in my pullin'/race box.

My clamps have been on all winter. As you can imagine, they are completely rusted.
Guess they're a permanent part of the truck now.

Hey i thought I was the only one to do that. I have had my bump stops on my truck for over a year now. I guess I'm ready for the sled pull in August :D

:rofl: Gotta love it. Ya know, I think it rides a LOT better with the clamps.

Mine rides worse but brakes better with the clamps on. Another thing to try is double nutting the clamps. I had similar problems getting my clamps back off last year, but ever since I added an extra nut to each one they have come right back off without clamping or jacking up the leaf..
