Hi there. I just bought a 03 chevy duramax 2500 lb7 not too long ago. It is my first diesel. Got a quick question for you guys. I get a rotationsqwealing noise along with a ticking noise when i accelerate, sounds like its coming from my driveshaft i was thinking ujoints because of the rotational squeak but the ticking threw me off, what do you guys think? Only does it from approx. 0-40km and sometimes when slowing down but not when im on the brake. And never does it idling. Thanks for the feedback

U joints can make crazy noises. Wouldn't surprise me if it were that. Also check the fluid in the transfer case, you may be a victim of good old pump rub

Sounds like u joints mine were doing the same a few months ago and they were shot. It would make a clicking noise under acceleration at low speeds

Transfer case fluid is a little on the brown side but still has a little red left. I plan on doing service on front and read diff and transfer case soon

If you've got fluid in it I doubt it's your case. May want to read up on switching the fluid out in the case with a good synthetic 10w-30 motor oil. There's threads on here about it. I'd definitely start by checking u joints for play to hunt down your noise. Maybe look at rear brakes too if it's a new to you truck and you haven't had tires off yet.

5w-30 is the recommended oil if you don't check your tcase often. 3 quarts through the speed sensor in the top of the tcase. Otherwise use ATF at the recommended intervals

No it is NOT! it is only recommended for those who have issues with vaporizing ATF fluid or who do not regularly check their fluid level. ATF is still the best oil to use in your t-case

So it is. I'm in the sunshine state, I used 10w-30 because it's hot as hell.

My case was almost a quart low when I got my truck at 138k, no leaks whatsoever. I am terrible when it comes to maintenance on my own vehicles.

I will be replacing the ujoints and going to grease the slip yoke on friday. Ill let you guys know how that goes. Thanks for the info! On another topic, my lb7 duramax is stock other then a aftermarket intake. Im looking into getting a tuner and exhaust. What tuner would you guys recommend and what stage would be safe for a stock drivetrain? And what brand of exhaust and size would be good?

Efi live is the best option available. Any 4" or 5" exhaust will work, I would go with the cheapest one you can find with the exception of diamond eye. Haven't heard the best fitment from them... I found my 5" magna flow for dirt cheap on eBay and am very happy with it.

Any brand you want, 4" is plenty but 5" has a little deeper sound. If you want room to grow from stock later on efilive from a pro, if you're happy with a stock motor/trans ppe makes a good canned tuner. Use the search for efilive and read to your hearts content

If you plan to run the guts out of it constantly you really shouldn't go much over 50 hp over stock. With a sane driver it'll live at 100 over. Much more than that and you're gambling

A $400 tune will cost you a $4k tranny...the question is...do you want to pay for that tranny now...or later??? It's up to you.
Of all the different mufflers I have had on my truck (4) the Corsa 4" SS Muffler has been the best.
