no thats why i dont think i have a gasket issue i dont lose or use any so i thinks its something retarded like thermostats or maybe i got two faulty caps i just borrowed one of my dads lly to try out so?

well heres a theory. on you big tune, yoour run it hard. This consists of big fuel, 45psi of boost and WOT. thats creating alot of heat in your heads. If 1 or both thermostats are not opening all the way, i can see you building some more than normal pressure in the cooling system as the water is getting hotter and not being able to be cooled by the radiator. The stock temp gauge is not accurate. With my EFI Live hooked up pullin a trailer up a 6% hill in 100* heat at WOT, near the top of the hill EFI Live said i was at 230* and the factory temp gauge was at 205-210.

If you dont pull anything heavy nor romp on it all the time you may never see high temps under load from a sticky t-stat, specially since we have 2.

You may hook up EFI and got run it around and see what it says your temps are at on the big tune and WOT a few times

great minds think alike i was just discussing this with mike_S last night if that was the issues an my temp gauge is close accroding to efi live when im doing logs most ive seen is 178 degrees granted its been fairly cold since i started paying attention but ill go look at it again here soon im not awfully worried bout it any more.

I am not so sure it would be the t stats, but thats just me because in mine (which has the same symptoms) i just replace the tstats when i did my Fuel Pressure Regulator and it didn't change anything.

I guess i'll just pull my cups when I go in to replace some injectors and reseal them all. Then if it is still building pressure i will resort to option two-- to cry :rofl:

On a side note I did replace my cap with a spare one i had it seemed to help for a bit, but now it seems to be building pressure slowly :woott:

iirc the cap is 15#'s and then releases . sorry to ask a stupid question but did you use arp lube . i know on the kits we have got in the past they never send enough to lube them all real good .

hey did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am kind of in the same boat as far as coolant pressure , I have about 20k on new motor and have studs and resealed all cups, and newer stats, I have hard upper hose and lots of pressure depending how I drive it. thanks in advance

i am also having issues

I have a 2002 duramax 6.6. Just got it out of the shop. First it was building pressure in the overflow tank, and smoking white. Well we put head gaskets in and replaced the injector cups. Just picked it up out of the shop tonight and it is not smoking anymore but it is still building pressure and the coolant is not hot nor warm. Could it be the water pump?

One of the cups probably didn't seal. Or there's a crack in the head or block.

Does the pressure bleed off or stay when you turn it off? How quick does it build pressure?
