I have been slowly acquiring all the parts I want to get powder coated on my motor. Besides custom parts that I'm still building, I have everything and lined up a shop to do the job.

Now the question I have is what are you guys doing before hand to insure a good end result. All the stock dmax parts (valve covers, acc brackets, coolant cross over and so on) are very porous and have rough edges/seams along with areas that didnt cast properly. I plan on sanding down the high spots and seams but what is being done about the places that didnt cast correctly?

I want a show quality result and don't want to do the job twice so any tips or tricks are appreciated!

Yea I bead/sand blast my stuff. Sand if needed. I usually use a mek to final clean the surface.

I need to post a pic of the areas I'm concerned about. I wonder if the sand or bead blasting is removing or smoothing out these areas. I'll get a pic up tomorrow.
