Ordered a set of braces for my my center link but instead of braces they sent the HEAVY DUTY pitman arm and idler arm from PPE. I will be drag racing my truck a fair bit and i would like to know what the BEST set up would be. 1. Braces on stock pitman and idler. 2. Straight centerlink. 3. PPE heavy duty pitman and idler. The truck is my daily driver and i will be putting a DJM 3/5 drop kit in with 20'' wheels and 285/50/20 street tires. Truck makes about 550 rwhp but i would like to get it to around 800 rwhp one day. What should i do?

Did you pay extra for them?? If not they retail for $595 ea.

I have not paid anything yet. Wondering if they are worth the extra cost compared to the stock pitman and idler with braces? Also wondering if the centerlink needs to be drilled out for the HUGE bolts that come with the PPE items.

hmm, not to try and steal your thread bud, but i have a question thats on this topic too. i still have my stock steering setup except i have ppe tierod sleeves. but i have some play in my steering wheel. is that my pitman or idler arm? also should i use the napa parts to replace with it or what? and what steering brace is the best to go with what?

can someone answer my question please? haha

i went with the moog pitman and idler and the cognito suport kit (putting all this on in a week) now from what i hear the stock pitman arm splines are the best and that the moog and napa splines arnt quite right but as long as you run the support kit they will be fine. Now thats just what im told i guess ill find out next week :joker:

See I am over kill. I have a center link and the braces and sleeves and front lowered and I can still toe in on a hard take off. Might have to change my old center link out for one of the 1 1/2 Super diesel ones I sell soon.

I like using OEM parts just its a pain getting pitman arms for others since the vin doesnt help when looking them up. You have a 3 groove and a 4 groove on the idler and pitman arm. The pitman is the only one you need to worry about counting the spline. The idler is not as bad nice to keep it the same but since most replace the whole part that bolts to the frame the grooves dont come into play.

If you go with a super steer you won't have to change the idler support again.

Iv never had a issue with any of my front end parts. The diesel has 61k on it. And the other truck was a 01 2500HD I plowed and beat on the front end nothing done to that front end and it was still tight at 150k.

Yes! if you plan on using both (straight center link, HD pitman/Idler) You will need to Drill out and reinforce the Center link. If you have one of the older style straight center link 1 3/8" I would recommend you go with our newer style center link that is 1.5", even with the newer design I would still recommend reinforcing the thin sides once it is drilled out to except the 7/8" bolts.
