I have been running the PPE 160 for about a year now as a daily driven tune. I even ran it in winter when temps hit around -50 C. I had no problems with it at all. Right now I am currently running the PPE 225 tune and I plan to run it as a daily driver also. I don't have gauges yet, but I tend to drive on the conservative side. There will be no towing, and the trans won't be an issue. I am just curious what kinds of EGT's you guys were seeing with the 225, and if you think it will be safe enough to run in the winter. The 160 was fairly quiet even when it was -25C and my truck wasn't plugged in. Will the 225 be louder? Any info you can give me would be great. I know it's a lame question, but who else am I gonna ask. :):baby:

I know when I had that tuner that I turned it down from 225 for the winter. There is more timing and mine rattled more, which I didn't like.

My 06LLY didn't like the 225 tune (winter or summer). It LOVED the 160 tune though and I had an otherwise stock truck with just exhaust and gauges. When I did run the 225 the egts went up pretty quick, even with the exhaust and no cat, but weren't dangerous unless I was WOT for a period. I never towed on that tune. In winter, the truck rattled pretty bad until it warmed up, so I didn't use it in winter.

mines rattles like a mofo stock in the winter, i'd hate to see it with the 300 tune on my truck

EGTS werent to bad running the 225 tune (lvl 5 i think?) would maybe get to 1400 if i would hold it for say 5 seconds at full throttle and that was without a lift pump, now with a lift pump the egts are cooler by about 100 degrees.

Mine rattled on level 3 this winter in N. Idaho. Not nearly as cold as you guys get, but stock ran the best for me. Hell, the roads were pure ice for 3 months straight, so I couldn't put down 300 hp, let alone 450...

I went back to the 160 after 5 days. I like the 225, it seems pretty snappy and pulls really nice on the highway. I found it smoked quite a bit more than the 160 which kind of bothered me. It also sooted up the oil pretty quick. My trans was having trouble holding it, no limp, but I could feel it shudder pretty hard when rolling into it in overdrive. It almost seemed like it would grab and let go off and on. My mileage stayed pretty close to the 160, about 20-21 mpg. So I'm back to the 160, my winter tune. :D

This is good to hear that people are running these for DD thats what I intend to do. Did you all actually gain a couple mpg's with product? I mean after the newness wears off and you are not getting on it as much and just driving.

the 160 tune ran better for me until i bought the lift pump. without that and a shim kit my truck would deliver the needed fuel with the 225.

so the higher the level towards the winter the more the chatter? i just start noticeding mine do the same and its about 60 some degrees..? is it cause of the timing being added?

A lift pump might have to wait until next year. Do your guy's trucks smoke alot on the 225 as well? I was also running it pretty hard into overdrive. booxr800 you can run a high power setting in overdrive, you just have to be careful of the shifts and rolling into it. Just steady cruising would be ok. I ran into my trouble shifting into and out of overdrive, and rolling into it in overdrive.
