Anyone know what would cause power steering to bind and sound like a pressure relief valve blowing off. Truck used to do it occasionally when snow plow was on and tried to steer without moving. Now it's happening alot when driving normal. Would have any mods that I've done make it worse. Hydro boost going bad?
Thanks for any advice

It only binds for a second, makes loud hiss. Once you start to drive its fine. I did however just find a TSB on this, they say to replace the cooler tube and one of the return hoses. Maybe in gets air bound for a second ! You would think you blew a hose that's how loud it is.

Hmm, when my gear box went it would make a nasty "creek" noise like metal rubbing metal with lots of pressure on it, kinda like a dry ball joint when you turn. But it would also be irratic in its steering. As I'd turn the wheel it would go heavy feeling to really light to normal and back with no consistancy. Only reason I figured it out was when I disconnected the steering box and got it to make creeking noise off the frame. The frame would make the noise sound so much worse and not easily pin pointable.
