Howdy Folks,
Got a case study here with a buddies truck, has a 07 Silverado classic 2WD thats leveled on 33's or 35's (cant remember exactly) front end was a bit sloppy so the front end was rebuilt, new blue top steering gear, cognito pitman and idler supports a autozone ps pump a year prior (strike one i know:rofl:) the problem is at a stop the steering locks up as if there is no power assist, you turn the wheel and it turns very slowly with great resistance and you can hear the hiss of the pressure relief valve in the pump as if it is at full lock, took the weight off the front end and there is no binding. Thinking its the pump but before parts are thrown at it i am wondering if anyone has had similar issues or any insight

Thanks in advance.

I agree and unless you have the equipment to check the pressure the pump is putting out. Your stuck just replacing the pump and seeing if it fixes it.

Pretty normal on these trucks, especially when you add larger tires on aftermarket wheels. Go back to stock size wheels and tires, and I bet the problem goes away.

Yup. They don’t have the power to easily turn big tires.

What’s the tire psi set to? Too low gives you a bigger contact patch so more resistance.
