Power converter to plug truck in in the winter?

Dunno if youve used it much on anything that pulls much juice, but the ground on that little jumper doesnt work worth a pinch of $hit. Not one of our 4 duramaxs will jumpstart a tractor or a truck off of that stupid thing, but if you connect to the battery ground and that positive terminal, viola! Cranks right up.
I always clamp the ground clamp of jumper cables to the spot on the accessory mounting bracket where the second alternator would normally go.

I use the block heater on my truck all winter but, not because I'm concerned about it not starting. I just don't like sitting in a cold truck any longer than I have to.
