ouch, thats such a dirty word! i think i will try to get a boost guage and go from there, maybe get something to pressure test my system. Does anyone know if a bullydog Watchdog will display my boost PSI?? i called them and they said they cant garuntee it does... only if my factory ECM supports it.

There is a guy in CT that knows about EFI Live tuning...IIRC, his name is Ben....He's a wise-ass, but he knows the Duramax...Might try looking him up...

If you stop by someone with EFILive, they can do very thorough diagnostics, including checking how much boost you have, by plugging into the diagnostics port. It's not just for tuning :thumb:

The trick is finding someone to diagnose your truck for free (or a case of beer). That can be a bit of a challenge.

Is it blowing any blk smoke on hard acceleration? Reason I ask is usually if you have a blown or leaking boost tube or coupling it will throw some blk smoke even with a stock tune. You can usually hear a wooshing sound from the engine compartment if you have a leak aswell.. If it was a T.C. issue you would definetly be able to feel the motor over powering and pushing through it and would probably trip a code aswell.. My LLY would Powerbrake when I first got it (Stock) but it did not like it:rolleyes: My advice is find someone with EFI or a tech 2 to log it if you can. If not let the dealer check it out.. Without codes or any way to check boost or EGT's its going to be pretty hard to diagnose here.

from a dead stop floored acceleration i do getr a little trail of black smoke... thought it was normal on a diesel... i do plan on ordering guages in the next couple days... but i will also try to find a leak... gonna try to make my own pressure tester to leak test it with the motor off.

Yeah, that is the vane position circuit. I would normally look up a wiring diagram or diagnostics table, but my server (or the internet) is down at my house, and I am out of state for a few days.

Hopefully the dealership won't charge much to get it diagnosed.
