I've called and talked to merchant automotive about their complete injector swap kit that comes with all the gaskets and everything you need to DIY and they said that after they swap the injectors with BOSCH's reman's they haven't seen any problems, I also spoke with Dave at Antrim diesel and he says that he has seen similar problems with all makes and models and that a lot of the problem is this horrible fuel that is being produced, basically your best bet is throw a lift pump of your choice on it and put a good additive in it and cross your fingers it's not just your good ole LB7

atf should be really be used when the injectors are new. Similar to guys who first bought these trucks and carried things they did on their other rigs.

IF you have smoke at idle then ATF probably will not help...your injectors are bad.

Also keep in mind the ATF stories of prolonging injector life where with guys in the early days. From what I can tell the remans are better than the originals in terms of better materials(not sure all the details) but by themselves last longer.

I only use about 1/2 quart plus 1/2 quart of MMO per tankful. I use the cheapest Dex III I can find.

As far as cleaners go with the additives...I have never seen those things work or any evidence that they prolong injectors...unlike the ATF.

I have run the gm injector liquid in a loop and that seems to clean the tips...I can see some carbon come back on the feedback loop. Again, I do believe the solution with LB7 injectors is several things.

1) better injectors(current ones)
2) ATF 1/2qt-1qt per tank
3) Heat...(my next project is to install an oil cooler)
4) clean fuel

I've seen balance rates improve big time from running just a bottle of additive in one tank. Ive seen rates go from borderline 3.5 area to below 2.0. Enough evidence for me...

What kit are you going with? MA seems to be the best bang for your buck I've seen so far

I haven't decided yet i think I am going to go with brand new Bosch Injectors from Injectors Direct. They claim that these are 100% new and not remans or refurbs may have to do some research on that claim, but so far that is probably what I will do.
