Your 6.0 cant tow what a Duramax can and your unloaded fuel mileage is much worse as well. So if your pulling light loads and that's what the truck spends most of its time doing then your golden. Otherwise you're loosing money by driving the gasser and have a weight and speed limitation compared to a Duramax or any other diesel for that matter. If you load up your truck and an identical truck with a Duramax and the same heavy load behind them your gasser will suffer far worse mileage.

Won't argue with that, but I don't tow for a living, just my 7600 pound max loaded camper once in a while. If I dont need to move something, I drive my car. I would have to take my camper to work with me everyday to lose money, I virtually stole the 6.0.

I never used either of my duramax's to their potential, and put more money in parts (mostly because of desire, not need) than what I picked up this 6.0 for. That said, it's hard not to miss them.

It took me a long time not to worry too much about mileage compared to cost invested in the vehicle, parts etc. It is something that still bugs me, but now I remind myself, x amount invested in vehicle, x amount invested in parts, x amount invested in etc. That is finally what matters more to me than the instant gratification of mpg for a trip. Again, if I towed for a living, or even a whole lot of personal, the deciding factor may be very different.

Sounds like you're good with the 6.0 then.

Yes, for now. The most important point was in the 3rd paragraph, but I don't even know where I was going with that. More than anything, it's justification that I don't need another diesel until I get the home addition, pond, and shop done. Truth be told, there will likely be another duramax in the driveway one day. I may never need one, but sure do like them. I just don't have that same urge to spend much on the 6.0. I mean, it's not like I have been looking at 408 kits and twin turbos, but those urges pass.

I had a 2007 NBS 2500HD, 6.0 with a 6 speed, what a pain in the ass to drive on the freeway slow and go. The engine did not come to life till around 4000rpm, at 2000rpm where the engine is detuned to pass emission it was a sloth. The Duramax has all I need it to do and then some below 4000rpm. Don't need the Duramax but it sure is a lot fun to drive with a few minor modifications...

Not aimed at you, guys complaining about fuel mileage driving a 7500lbs.+ truck with a 6.6 liter turbocharged engine is like pissing in the wind, what did you expect towing or not...

Must have been a Monday truck. Mine was a Friday one, or maybe hump day? 233,xxx miles CCSB 4x4 and doesn't have problems getting on the highway or n passing. I might tune it to remove some torque management, but again, i am being very cautious on cost vs reward at this time. I'm derailing the thread, I'm sorry. It all started with the truckers running people over who are doing 60 towing.

Yep, the LML's are bad. My 01 would get 15 mpg towing. Now my LML does the 8 to 8.5 mpg. Love the truck hate the mileage. About time to get a semi

My 06 gets 9.7 towing at 67 MPH from Va to Ok with 19,000 lb GVW. I don't worry about trucks swerving, almost 3/4 of the trucks in the US are geared at 63 MPH.
