I posted this up on the other duramax forum but I'm really having a rough time here so I figured I would try here as well. I changed the tranny and tcase fluids in my 03 duramax. After Filling up the tcase through the speed sensor hole ( I was told this was a good idea) my truck went into limp mode and the service brake light went on as well as the abs. I drained the tcase and filled it up through the fill hole and limp mode and all lights went off. Now when driving it shifts normal until downshifting into 2nd where it clunks briefly and almost acts like something's grabbing. The brake pedal will vibrate as well. Any ideas guys?

I changed the actual sensor. Is there something I could have done by filling it up through that hole as far as inside the tcase

What did you fill it with and did you fill it all the way to the very top :spit:

Most everyone over there are misinformed.

I've read about using straight 30w or even 5-30 oil in the T-case, but never trans fluid...

DO NOT use autotrak II in the HD model trucks, that is for the half tons and smaller that have auto transfer cases.

2 quarts Dex 3 is factory, the other method, although controversial is 3 quarts mobil1 5w/30 through the speed sensor hole

They come factory with 2 quarts of dex 3 :thumb:

Because the owners manuals in a lot of trucks say that too bit its definitely without a doubt a typo. The auto trak II is for the tcases with the clutches like your TBSS probably has.

I don't think the Auto Trac will hurt anything. I've seen many Duramaxes come through my shop with high mileage and no damage.

I believe the auto Trac fluid has a release agent to assist clutch release. I think that is the only difference.

So it might be OK. I was just stating that it was not the correct fluid per factory recommendation. Just like the 5\30 it works great but its not factory.
