Guys we got the tranny in the truck we have a problem the truck will go from drive to reverse fine it holds tight. when we put it in drive the truck will shift down into first for about 3 secs then will shift right into 4th gear so all i have is forth. what is the problem here. the spool vavle is fine its moves free like it should. It acts like a electronic problem. I reset all the taps in the tranny and took my 01 tcm out and put my stock tranny tune back in it. its not adding up

Heck, I can't help, my trans seems to be doing the same thing. Did you send me a virus via the tune you sent me the other night? :D Lots of luck with your problem there, hope you getter-fixed.

Lower half of the valve body, center valve. I use a honig tool to keep all the lands in line. Not sure what to recommend to tell you other than taking a piece of emry cloth on the end of a thin drill bit and leave it loose as to let it spin so only the paper can run around on the valve body itself. It is absolutely not the proper way to do it, I just have no other ideas to tell you..... This might get you by. Also, stretch the spring before you put it back in.

I would offer to send my tools to you, but I am 270 miles away from them anyway.

This might get you by. Also, stretch the spring before you put it back in.

Have any idea why the transmission is limping to forth? My valve is not sticking when disassembled, but I guess it could be while in operation? Thanks for the tip.

I edited my above post and removed the part about the valve. The problem is the valve body and that is the proper area to be addressed. I meant only to run the cloth around the valve just to make sure it was clean, but after reading it, sounded as if I meant more than that.....

New2,
The valves in the valve body move to allocate certain gear ranges by opening up and closing up certain passages.

You do know that this voids your bet with the folks on DP dont you?

look under new2lb7 thread in mike L section

Kurt, check the thread under Mike L's section. The fix for my truck was definitely reaming the "e" shift bore....... I certainly hope this same procedure will take care of the misery you are feeling. If not, PM George, he was truly the cure for my self created misery. Good luck to ya... Oh by the way, Larry has a memory like an elephant. You may want to keep your bet. :hello:
