we have a 2005 Duramax 6.6 GMC crew cab that has ran perfectly fine when we bought it from the dealer, my mom loves the truck (mainly because it rolls coal) and recently she was driving down the main Street in town and the truck shut down, she was not able to get it to turn over at all (guages just drop down to zero) we've jumped the starter and we know the starter is good, is has a chip in it for rolling coal and towing ect... before the failure we had to install a new water pump because it leaked like crazy, i have no idea what could be wrong with it. (i'm more of a carburetor guy myself) please help!!!!

not sure what kind of chip it has, it has a key selector switch on the left hand side of the steering wheel. what we believe is the chip is located by the ECM in a tray type housing, and it looks like it came from the factory with it. i don't know much about it since we didnt install it

it has an Airdog pump

Ok, if it has less than a 1/4 tank of fuel that could be your problem. There has been alot of problems with the "1/4 tank" issue with lift pumps installed without a draw staw or fuel sump. Basically it is sucking air and not getting fuel to the injection pump.

Opps! Just read it does not turn over. That has nothing to do with the lift pump! I thought it just died and wouldn't start back up!

thats basically what happened, she was driving it, it shut down, and now the only message the dash displays is ''service brake system", when we try to start it the gauges drop and nothing happens

Check your grounds. Try disconnecting that crap crop.
