Its a long story how i got here but ill break it down as simple and detailed as possible. Any help is appreciated gang! ALOHA! 🤙🏼
so i have a 07.5 LMM new style (lifted, deleted, no tuner, after market stereo …if this even matters).. its my work truck so i was pulling a load and broke my drive shaft so its been sitting for a hot minute. After that i lost my key, sooo.

Got my shaft and installed it
had a new transponder key cut and programmed
- truck started with ignition in the ON position.
- cluster going crazy, lights going off, clicking, dome lights didn't want to go off
- but it ran just like nothing happened but i did have dead batteries so i removed them and the truck sat for a day

installed the 2 new batteries and no crank no start
- no dome lights, no power locks, no power windows, no shift indicator
- cluster, A/C, and radio had power

i had a feeling it was the key for some reason but i tested everything
- fuses good
- data link good
- harnesses all checked out

a friend came and did something with the DIC and BOOM… started right up. SURE ENOUGH IT WAS THE KEY, HAD TO RELEARN
- it would start with the key in the accessory position. didn't even have to turn the key fully
- cluster still going crazy. all the warnings, gauges bouncing up and down
- dome lights, power windows and locks came back to life (dome lights still didn't want to turn off)
- hazards kept flashing (my alarm im assuming because it would go off randomly so i unplugged the horn)
- friend said to replace ignition switch

got the new ignition switch and installed it. upon installation i found 2 cut wires from the ignition switch harness cut with exposed wires
- stereo was spliced into one of those wires (assuming when i had the stereo installed “professionally”)
- removed the splice and reconnected those wires back together
- went to start truck and back to square one.
- NO CRANK, NO START, NO SHIFT INDICATOR, NO POWER LOCKS & WINDOWS
- i figured i had to do the same thing and relearn the key
- tried to get to the relearn program mode with the DIC and i don't even have the option (im not sure how my friend did it)
- only options i have is to change language and restore all factory settings. i thought maybe i need to get a new key and relearn that since i cant get to that option from my DIC

got a new key cut, did the 30 minute relearn and STILLLL no fkn cigar…key is recognized but it didnt do the trick.

does anyone know why my DIC isnt showing the option to relearn? of if anyone has suggestions id greatly appreciate it. trying to ship the truck to the states kuz im moving from hawaii. but i cant have this think breaking down on me so im trynna fix the bugs. thanks guys happy holidays!

Welcome. That's quite a story

As far as I know, there is no option for a key relearn in the DIC. I could be wrong, if so others will chime in. I would think he did the 30 minute (VATS) relearn like you said you tried. Do you have a security or padlock light on? That is the tail tail indicator for rejecting the key and no start.

But honestly it sounds like you might have a fried BCM. Have you gone over all of the harnesses underneath that might have been damaged from the driveshaft? There are lots of wires that run from the BCM underneath the truck and maybe some are shorting out and throwing the BCM into a fit.

Can you read and post up all the codes?

But my final opinion is you need a competent shop to look it over and correct all the issues. I don't know of any shops in Hawaii, but maybe someone else here does

appreciate your input. i was thinking its the BCM too. no security light on tho. i was under the truck all day today checking all the wires. couldnt find any chaffed ones aside from the 2 on the ignition switch harness that i fixed. i was about to take it to the dealer before my friend took a look at it and got it started. im just wishful thinking i guess kuz i know they gonna rack a fat bill for me.

Stereo wires tapping in… sounds more like wiring for aftermarket remote start, no? Maybe that’s part of the problem?
