Mike,

Given all your experience with the Allison and cooling work you have done and are doing.

Do you recommend plate and fin style coolers or tube style coolers? How much volume are we trying to move and do either of these designs work better than another?

Thanks.

OT- haven't talked to you in a long time, No golf again this week.... damn rain.

Happy Holidays old man.

I'm not Mike,:mikelsheep:

but I can tell you with intercoolers, bar and plate cores work better. there is more surface area because the bars are square, and with tube and fin they are round....making the surface area less.

Tube and fin suck as there will be eventual corrosion between the two.
Plate and fin are not all created equal so watch out. Some are designed to expand flow only after fluid is thinned and plates expand only under heat. my coolers have very little pressure drop and don't need to expand under heat or have the fluid thin out to circulate.
Not trying to sell you a coller as I don't know what you are trying to cool. If it is oil, you will want a turbulator type cooler to turn the fluid inside out as the inside part of the fluid will be hotter than the outside. kinda like when our moms taught us to eat the soup from the edge of the bowl which was always cooler. Call me and we can discuss this further.

Thanks Mike.
