If you've used it let me know where and how it worked for you

What's "plastidip"

JK
Lots of guys have used it on various parts like grilles, wheels, rocker panels, bumpers and I've got a buddy that blacked out his interior panels with it.

It holds up pretty well depending on the environment you drive in. There are even different colors to choose from now and glossifiers you can use to protect the plastidip and give it a gloss or satin finish

It's come a long way since it's inception, but it's not everyone's cup of tea, I've used it to cover the hood of a VW golf to gauge if I liked it black and it held up for months and I just peeled it off when I was done with it, I covered the mirror caps on that car as well and it held up just fine

But that being said, I would prefer to just use vynil where I can

Did my rear bumper first. 5 coats. Still looks good. Did my front grill and all chrome on the bumper, 3 coats black and 2 glossifyer. Not a fan of the gloss. Didn't use enough on the front. I need probably 10 layers due to the winter roads.

I painted all the chrome on my front and rear bumpers with regular truck paint and it looks horrible after a month, there a bunch of chips in it so I was thinking about using plasti dip when I go over it again

I painted my stock rims and my front bumper and grill with it and they are all holding up very well with somewhere in the 15k mile range on it. That stuff goes on ugly and dries so smooth.

Well, my advise would be to sand it smooth before you use the plastidip cuz it doesn't really fill, use probably 4-6 medium coats minimum (be careful cuz it will run like a mofo) or 10 light coats and when you tape off make several layers of tape so you can tear off between coats and dont let the plastidip set up before you remove the tape, pull the tape when the plastidip is still very wet. Otherwise, in my experience the plastidip has a tendency to tear.

The plastidip doesn't chip like paint does, it does get marks tho where it gets impacts from rocks and large bugs and I've seen bug guts stain it slightly when it was left bare and no glossifier or clear was used. And it will start to peel in rare instances when a rock fully penetrates it and you hit it with a pressure washer

Other than a few little annoyances, it's pretty stout stuff, cheap and easy to work with, easy to remove and reapply.

But then, you could get a 10" wide by 25' long roll of vynil for about $30 and apply that just as easily using the wet method and a little heat for the corners...

That will save you money and time by not having to mask and tape off the surrounding area, buy glossifier or clear etc. All you need is a razor blade, a soft straight edge and a spray bottle with some warm soapy water and then hit it with a hairdryer for corners and once you got it cut to form and tuck it in

This is how my truck used to look and over the course of a year and lots of plasti dip it looks like the last 2. Lots of people around here thought it was smooth bedliner. I like it. And if you mess up just peel and start over
