They mount to the body.... mainly the pinch weld... they also have arms welded to the step that keep it from leveraging back when loaded by pushing up against the cab bottom.

You'll have to drill the pinch weld in a couple spots..... helps to have another person helping hold the step while you lay it out.

The mounting seemed cheesy to me, but once they were on, they were rock solid. No flex or bending, and I'm a little north of 300lbs :D

You should have used vise grips. I have the RBP steps which is exactly the same as N Fab steps (N Fab makes it for RBP and RBP slaps their name brand on). It looks the best of all steps even with my lift on. You'd be better off getting the N Fab steps, not the RBP for the money. I got mine for the same price as the N Fab.

NFabs on 2013

My 6 Step wheel to wheel NFabs. Great for getting in...have to "look" for the step getting out. Installed 'em by myself...driver side under an hour. Passenger side around two hours. Brackets aligned with existing holes...special bracket weldment on the passenger side steps to clear the emissions fluid tank.

I like them but they are probably not as "usable" as an oval step/running board where the steps are continuous. No regrets though.

(Sorry for the dirty pics...rainy round here right now).

Thanks for your comments and pic Chuck. Having to look for the step on exit might be an issue, depending on my many beers I had on the way home. :alcoholic:

How well are the N-Fab steps positioned in relation to climbing in & out of the truck? Anybody else with N-Fabs notice the same thing?

I thought they worked fine, just slippery when wet according to the wife.

I don't have any pics to share, but my buddy has N-Fab and I am a fan. Bodyguard Bumpers steps are worth looking at. Also, iron cross are pretty cool, but are tucked up pretty close so might not satisfy the need of an oompa loompa:rofl:

Thanks for the post POWDR. I had never heard of Bodyguard steps, or Iron Cross. I don't think I'm a fan of the Iron Cross style, but the Bodyguard steps look pretty stout.

I think it's between N-Fab and Bodyguard at this point. But it will still be a while before I can get steps, too many other things to do first. :D

N-fab are prob best for the price. They also drop the step a bit where the Bodyguard is just a part of the bar and doesn't seem to offer much in the way of being a step stool. They look pretty cool though.

I just have some chrome round Westin knockoffs (came with the rig). I am going to pull them right now and hit them with bedliner. I do NOT like any chrome.

I think if Iron Cross just yanked that aluminum insert in the foot hold they would look a lot better. I kind of loke the squared off look they have going on.

I hit my chrome steps up with some rattle can bed liner. I probably should have painted them first, but I just scuffed the chrome and sprayed. I hope it holds up.

I got a little eager on one of the coats and there are quite a few drips showing, but I don't really care as these are temporary anyway.

I will get some pics up for ya soon
