Yes they do.
But that doesn't mean the owner of the truck did. I had the same thing happen. I sold a pair of LB7 heads to a member, he took the to the machine shop to find they had eroded around the cups. The engine was torn down and diagnosed with a crack in the cylinder. I have yet to find the crack the mechanic claimed was there. Oh and I did refund the buyer:hug:

The coolant with the heads that were shown in their first post used the green coolant. The water pump I removed also had pitting on the edge of the cover. I don't know that much about how the PH levels of coolant change, but it certainly doesn't hurt to flush the cooling system once a year IMHO.

im pretty sure that the green coolant has higher nitrite levels than elc. and the new ultra elc that is running in some new trucks has "0" nitrite in it

Still thinking about if its because of a certain coolant, because; Dexcool is known to eat gaskets anyways, so could it really be the difference in coolant design or just a elevated amount of something negative in the cooling material itself regardless of the color reference.

It's not the coolant. The heads in my old puller were worse than that and it never saw coolant, only water. I figured it was from runnin it repeatedly with lifted cups?

We fixed it by welding in cups and never looked back.

I spoke with Bob about this and he told me he believes it's due to the composition of the head material in regards to Rockwell hardness. It makes me wonder because only 1 head that I had did it and only 1 of Brian's heads did this so IDK what to think.I have to believe that a head as bad as Brian's couldn't have been that bad from factory, but that being said Brian had said the guy that sold them to him stated they only had 30, 000 miles on them.
